04 Apr Pat Williams
Pat Williams has dabbled in art since 2003 but, since retirement in 2015, has had more time to explore different mediums. She works primarily in scratchboard; pastels; and charcoal and paints sunsets; landscapes; animals; and, more recently, portraits.
Pat currently has a range of scratchboard works in the gallery. Scratchboard is a medium she discovered a few years ago, leading her to take a number of workshops, including one with the International Scratchboard Society.
The medium is a form of direct engraving where dark ink is scratched off to reveal a white colour underneath. This white clay can then be coloured, if so desired. Any subject can be scratched and, due to the detail that can be achieved, it is ideal for the animals that feature in her work.
